By Faith We Understand

I am discouraged by the number of theories which have risen over the ages that compete with the Biblical revelation of creation. Now as a Christian I know none of these theories have credence. So, I’m not discouraged for that reason. I’m discouraged because these theories move some people away from their Creator. I’m discouraged because I know that these theories are a snare of Satan whereby he lures his prey with the attractive appetizing bait of intellectualism and rationalism. I’m discouraged because they are deceived into believing that an inability to understand how God created the heavens and the earth is reason enough to disbelieve the revelation of God. As if an infinite being could be fully comprehended by finite creatures in the first place. If there is a desire in you to see persons come to a proper faith in God who have been tripped up by fallacious theories of creation, then you should be discouraged too.

Yet, I am encouraged to know that just as God turned a sinner like me and caused me to believe things I never believed before. He can move another hardened heart to faith. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.[1]
